Sustainable construction with Beconart: RAIQA leads the way
The DAS RAIQA project in the heart of Innsbruck is a prime example of sustainable architecture. Rather than demolishing the existing building, the old structure has been cleverly integrated into the new one. This not only reduces the environmental footprint but also creates a fascinating architectural dialogue between the old and the new. Beconart played a crucial role in the treatment of the exposed concrete, contributing significantly to the harmonious connection between the two construction phases.

Challenges and Solutions with Beconart

Challenge

Current investigations have shown that the existing concrete ceilings, beams and columns require upgrading in terms of fire safety and structural integrity. To achieve this, targeted concrete refurbishment is being carried out, whereby damaged areas are repaired using exposed concrete restoration, exposed concrete finishing and surface coating. These measures, supported by Beconart’s expertise, not only ensure the building’s longevity but also meet stringent fire safety requirements and guarantee an aesthetically pleasing appearance.

Innovative approaches

Particular mention should be made of the use of innovative materials and techniques, such as carbonation inhibitors and fire-retardant coatings. This enables the effective and sustainable refurbishment of the existing building without compromising safety or aesthetics. Beconart draws on its expertise in exposed concrete treatment to create a harmonious blend of old and new.
