Challenge

The swimming pools in the Schönmünzbach park that were to be reworked have already been sandblasted and cosmetically reworked when operational, but not to the customer's satisfaction.

Sandblasting of concrete surfaces has opened up capillary pores in a previously dense concrete structure. This promoted the entry of water into the concrete structure, as well as the degradation of the alkalinity of the concrete and thus the natural corrosion protection of the stabilized reinforcement. 

To protect the concrete structure at the site, beconart had to take measures to seal capillary pores in the concrete at the site.

Numerous edge cracks in the wall crown area, concrete spalling on the pool interior walls, height differences in the pool walls, and air pockets on the concrete surface had to be repaired. All exposed concrete surfaces should be inspected for settlement and damaged areas.

Color homogeneity should be reconsidered.
