Challenge

For the architectural design of the noise protection facade of the Regensburgerviertel Nuremberg car park, the architects from BEHLES & JOCHIMSEN chose the “trompe l’oeil” technique for applying the concrete glaze as a visual effect. The colored concrete glaze thus gives the two-dimensional concrete facade a visual 3D effect.

The challenge in this project was to artistically glaze the surfaces of the solid prefabricated concrete parts so precisely that a homogeneous spatial and at the same time lively overall image was created. For this purpose, the KEIM Concretal concrete glaze was chosen, which gives the glazed concrete an expressive, lively color thanks to its purely mineral color pigments.
