Challenge

The pools in the Schönmünzbach park that were to be reworked had already been sandblasted and cosmetically reworked when commissioned, but not to the client’s satisfaction.

Sandblasting the concrete surfaces opened the capillary pores in a previously dense concrete structure. This promoted the entry of water into the concrete structure, as well as the degradation of the concrete alkalinity and thus the natural rust protection of the installed reinforcement. 

To protect the in-situ concrete structure, beconart had to take measures to close the capillary pores in the in-situ concrete.

Numerous edge chips in the area of ​​the wall crowns, concrete spalling on the inner walls of the pools, height differences in the pool walls and air pockets on the concrete surface had to be repaired. All exposed concrete surfaces had to be checked for evenness, damaged areas,
Surface texture and
Color homogeneity needs to be revised.
