Sustainable building with Beconart: THE RAIQA as a pioneer
The DAS RAIQA project in the heart of Innsbruck is a prime example of sustainable architecture. Instead of demolishing the existing building, the old skeleton was intelligently integrated into the new structure. This not only minimizes the ecological footprint, but also creates an architecturally exciting dialogue between old and new. Beconart played a crucial role in the processing of the exposed concrete, which contributed significantly to the harmonious connection of the two construction phases.
Challenges and solutions with Beconart
Challenge
Existing investigations have shown that the existing concrete ceilings, beams and columns need to be upgraded with regard to fire protection and durability. In order to achieve this, targeted concrete renovation is carried out, in which damaged areas are repaired with exposed concrete retouching and exposed concrete cosmetics and the surfaces are coated. These measures, supported by Beconart’s experience, not only ensure the longevity of the building, but also meet the strict fire safety requirements and ensure an attractive aesthetic.
Innovative approaches
Particularly noteworthy is the use of innovative materials and techniques, such as carbonation brakes and fire protection coatings. These enable efficient and sustainable renovation of the existing building without compromising on safety or aesthetics. Beconart uses its know-how in processing exposed concrete to create a harmonious connection between old and new.
