Concrete restoration

Concrete repair

During the manufacturing and construction process, the surface of exposed concrete (architectural concrete) develops surface irregularities and sometimes damage that may affect the durability of the exposed concrete. Sustainable restoration of exposed concrete, followed by surface beautification and retouching, is an integral part of the exposed concrete production process.

Common damages include the following:
Air gaps (Lunker), gravel nests, unsuccessful joints, and cleat holes (Ankerlöcher), which often arise during casting. In precast concrete elements (FT), defects may appear due to improper transportation, storage or installation.

Additional damage may arise during the construction process, such as:

  • Material damage due to negligence.

  • Technical slots and holes for cables or fittings.

  • Color changes due to improper cleaning.

  • Peeling and cracking due to the effects of the weather.

Architectural concrete surfaces with character

To carry out the repair of exposed concrete and sustainable damage removal, it is recommended to hire a specialist who, in addition to the renovation process, will also carry out the subsequent beautification and retouching of the exposed concrete. Based on defect catalogs, photos or an on-site assessment by one of our employees, we record all damage patterns on the exposed concrete, estimate the extent of the exposed concrete treatment and carry out all measures from a single source.

Exposed concrete repair can be done according to the effort and according to the list of services. If exposed concrete repair is performed at cost, the actual need may vary depending on circumstances and requirements. When executing according to specifications, we create specifications and record damages and defects that can be identified and described in detail in order to execute projects in a timely and financially planned manner.

The reforms needed are:

  •  Surface porosity
  • Felting seams
  • Mechanical damage
  • Chemical damage

Discover How Our Expertise Brings Outstanding Concrete Retouching and Concrete Processing to the Impressive Stuttgart 21 Project

Concrete Cosmetics, Concrete Staining, Hydrophobization - Stuttgart 21

At the Stuttgart 21 mega-project, we apply the highest precision and expertise to concrete retouching and processing. Our focus is on the targeted refinement of visible concrete surfaces on massive exposed concrete elements.

Our final adjustment includes precise concrete retouching of the exposed concrete surfaces to ensure seamless integration into the environment. Both the large-scale staining of main surfaces and the local retouching meet the highest standards and are perfectly aligned with the surroundings. This all takes place at dizzying heights of 20 meters while we work on aerial work platforms and lifts.

At Stuttgart 21, we undertake large-scale concrete retouching, including the professional reworking of support elements removed during the project. This includes removing screw threads at the support points and using closure cones with precisely matched concrete surfaces. Through careful roughening, application, and grinding, we ensure that the surfaces harmoniously integrate into the surrounding areas. Local adjustments to the joint patterns are also one of our specialties.
